Situated in Hekpoort on the R560 on the outside of the Cradle of Mankind World Heritage Site. The College is set in 25 hectares of farmland, nestled under the Magaliesberg mountain range and bordered by the Klein Magalies River. The College has modern facilities, allowing the delivery of practical tuition.
To offer quality tuition, delivering a range of full time skills programmes for both Junior and Senior management, focusing on theoretical and practical application and equipping the student to gain skills that will improve productivity as well as facilitate the transfer of skills they have gained, back into their working environment.
The College offers comfortable, shared accommodation in a secure environment. An African menu is available, with laundry and housekeeping facilities provided.
During the students’ stay at the College, they will have the opportunity to go on an excursion to the Maropeng Museum and Sterkfontein Caves.
All training programmes are delivered against industry registered unit standards. Training is conducted by BC Landscape Training & Consultancy who are recognized as the leading training provider in the industry with close association with SAGIC (South African Green Industries Council). BC Landscape Training & Consultancy was established in 1999 and are fully accredited with Agri-SETA and are a BBBEE (broad based black economic empowerment) enterprise.

Plant Propagator – 5 day programme – Levels 1-2
Plant production from cuttings and seed, material selection, environmental and cultural practices required to be a successful propagator.
Nursery Technician – 5 day programme – Levels 1-2
Nursery production skills from plant training methods, soil mediums, potting on, irrigation practices, fertilization, pest and disease control and sanitation practices.
Nursery Production Supervisor – 5 day programme – Level 4
Supervisory and management skills required in all sections of a plant production facility.
Nursery Irrigation Technician – 5 day programme – Levels 1-2
Design principles, managing and maintaining the system, monitoring water quality and fertigation methods.
Pesticide Applicator – 5 day programme – Levels 1-2
Safety with pesticides including insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, pesticide storage and control, equipment, field application methods.
Vegetable Production – 5 day programme – Levels 1-3
Principles of vegetable production, providing the requirements of seasonal crops, covering environmental protection, soil cultivation, in field sowing, cultural practices and harvesting.
Field Irrigation Technician – 5 day programme – Levels 1-3
Design principles of open field and protected environment systems, management and maintenance of spray and drip irrigation, including monitoring of water source quality, pumping systems and fertigation.
Tractor Operator – 5 day programme – Levels 1-2
Safety, tractor features, maintenance and field operation.
Agricultural Equipment Technician – 5 day programme – Levels 1-3
Safety, equipment range, workshop skills (cutting, welding), workshop organization, maintenance, schedules and storage.
Chainsaw and Brushcutter Operator – 5 day programme – Levels 1-2
Safety, maintenance, operation in the field.
Garden/Landscape Design – 5 day programme – Level 4
Client communication, site surveys, design principles, preliminary designs, final designs, drawing skills, specifications, bills of quantity and contracts.
Landscape Management – 5 day programme – Level 4

Landscape Maintenance – 10 day programme – Levels 1-3
Mowing principles, edging lawns, planting from containers, pruning, fertilization, pest and disease control, health and safety, soil cultural practices, mulching, site aesthetics, equipment and machinery.
Landscape Construction – 10 day programme – Levels 1-3
Paving, retainer wall construction, water feature construction, safety on site, machinery equipment and hand tools.
Landscape Irrigation Technician – 5 day programme – Levels 1-2
Design, semi-automatic, fully automatic systems, valve installation, trenching, pipework and fitting installation, valve box installation, solenoid wiring, control box installation and system maintenance.
Invasive Alien Vegetation Control – 5 day programme – Levels 1-2
Environmental impact of plant invaders, categories of invaders, identification of invaders, manual control measures, chemical control measures, biological control measures and safety.
Environmental Awareness – 5 day programme – Levels 1-2
The environmental effects of environmental pollution, soil pollution, water pollution, air pollution, causes of pollution and global warming, managing waste, managing environmental factors in human communities.
Organic Crop Production – 5 day programme – Levels 1-2
Principles of organic crop production, soil cultivation, cultural practices, crop rotation, organic pest and disease control methods, principles of organic material recycling.
Interior Plantscaping – 5 day programme – Levels 1-3
The positioning and maintenance of indoor plants, environmental requirements, plant selection and identification, container and plant display design.
Sports Turf Maintenance – 10 day programme – Levels 1-2
Construction principles, soil mediums, primary cultural practices, secondary cultural practices, equipment and maintenance, pesticides, weed control, marking out sports turf surfaces and irrigation (includes 3 days practical at a sports turf facility).
Arboriculture – 10 day programme – Levels 1-2
Tree surveys, climbing practices, safety, pruning techniques, felling techniques, cavity/water pocket treatment, bracing, root feeding and tree planting.
Plant Identification – 5 day programme – Levels 1-2
Plant taxonomy, indigenous tree identification.
